After appearances at Glastonbury and the success of her first album, Louisa Roach of She Drew The Gun approached me to art direct her second album, Revolution Of Mind.
I felt that an image was needed that represented the activist attitude present in the songs and lyrics, driven by a feminist, non-binary politic, informed by the art of Judy Chicago.
The album cover depicts an androgynous subject, daubed with song lyrics using motor oil, in a pose traditionally used for spray tanning, symbolising the connections between capitalist control of gender, the environment and patriarchal beauty standards.
A font was developed from the finger-painted body texts for use throughout the packaging.
